General Election 2010: Peppa Pig withdrawn from Labour event 'to avoid controversy' - Daily Telegraph

Peppa Pig, the popular children’s television character has been withdrawn from a Labour event, after its creators said they wanted to avoid any “controversy”.The cartoon character, which is broadcast on commercial television, had been due to appear at a party election event on Tuesday highlighting Labour’s policy on families.

...The show, which is aired in 180 countries, won a children's Bafta in 2005 for best pre-school animation. Its licensors (E1 Entertainment) earlier this month announced it had grossed more than £100m in spin off sales after it toppled Winnie the Pooh and Noddy, to become the fastest selling pre-school children's character in Britain.
